About Me:This is my first year at IHM. I'm very excited to be here! I am returning to teaching after taking time off to raise my three wonderful children! I can't wait to get back to the classroom! I taught at Johnnycake Middle School and Ridgely Middle School in Baltimore County before my children were born. During my years of teaching, I taught 6th, 7th and 8th grade. I taught Math, Science and Social Studies. During my time off, I continued to get involved in "teaching" opportunities. I coached softball and soccer for my children's teams. I ran and organized our community concession stand for many years. I worked in all of my kids classrooms as a Room Parent during their elementary years. I tutored students in the community in Math. And I substituted in BCPS for the past nine years. I am so thankful for the years I had at home with my kids and feel blessed that I was able to do so. However, I loved my years as a teacher and knew that one day I'd return. I come from a long line of teachers; my mom taught Elementary School, my dad was a Math Professor and my grandfather was a Chemistry Professor. Teaching is a part of me. I am super thrilled to teach again!
Philosophy: I believe that teaching is one of the most rewarding jobs out there. Watching students learn new things, work hard, practice, work cooperatively, persevere, and have those "aha" moments is magical! I believe that all students are capable of learning, if they are given the proper direction and motivation by their teachers. One of my biggest goals is to create a learning environment that is both exciting and engaging for my students. I believe material should be taught so that it is both interesting and relevant to the students. I strive to create an atmosphere where students are invited to share their ideas and take risks. My job is to give my students the tools they need to be successful and to reach their full potential.
