June 5, 2019: Today, the students took notes about abiotic/biotic factors and the six characteristics of life. The students observed these factors outside and wrote a connection statement between one biotic and abiotic factor.
June 4, 2019: Today, the students watched a video about symbiotic relationships and prepared a pyramid by coloring the rows and gluing it to a piece of construction paper.
June 3, 2019: Today, the students completed the symbiotic relationships notes and played a review game.

May 29, 2019: Today, the students used the quizlet to play a review game for the final exam. The science final exam is tomorrow.
May 28, 2019: Today, the students constructed questions and answers for a quizlet. This quizlet is posted in my google classroom. Tomorrow, they will use this quizlet to review for the final exam. The answers to the review guide are posted in my google classroom. Students should check their answers on the review guide. The Science Final Exam is Thursday.
May 24, 2019: Today, I saw 6L and they completed a weather map activity. I didn't see 6F due to the PBIS celebration.
May 23, 2019: Today, the students completed the air pressure packet. They finished drawing isobars on weather maps to predict the movement of air masses. The Science Final Exam Review Guide is now posted in my Google Classroom. The answers will be posted shortly. The students need to print out the review guide and answer the questions.
May 22, 2019: Today, the students took notes about Air Pressure and learned how to draw isobars. The students will continue this activity tomorrow. May 20, 2019: Today, the students took notes about the four types of air masses. They went outside to measure the relative humidity of the air. This information, combined with temperature and wind direction, allowed the students to predict what type of air mass is affecting our weather. The students do not have homework tonight.
May 16, 2019: Today, the students took the Relative Humidity Quiz and glued their sponge painting cloud to a piece of blue paper. They took the cloud art home. The students do not have homework tonight.
May 15, 2019: Today, the students took the Relative Humidity Practice Quiz. The practice quiz and answers are posted in Google classroom. The students will take the Relative Humidity Quiz tomorrow, May 16th.
May 13, 2019: Today, the students presented their upcycling projects. The projects are displayed in a classroom until they are graded. The students will take the relative humidity quiz Thursday, May 16th.
May 10, 2019: Today, the students watched a video about clouds and wrote a haiku about the information. The students read their haiku to the class. The students continued to work on the relative humidity review maze. The upcycling project is due Monday, May 13th, which includes a one-page paper and an upcycled object. The relative humidity quiz is rescheduled for Thursday, May 16th.
May 9, 2019: Today, the students artistically represented the type of clouds they observed outside yesterday. They used sponge painting to represent the type of clouds. The students were able to start the relative humidity review activity. They will finish this review activity tomorrow. A relative humidity quiz is scheduled for next Wednesday, 5/15. The upcycling project is due May 13th, which includes a one-page paper and an upcycled object.
May 8, 2019: Today, the students took notes about different types of clouds. They went outside to sketch and describe the clouds they observed today. May 7, 2019: Today, the students reviewed relative humidity calculations and how to use the chart to determine relative humidity. The students went outside to calculate the relative humidity. We checked weather.com and several groups were able to get really close to the actual relative humidity. The students' homework tonight is Relative Humidity HW.
May 6, 2019: Today, the students took notes about relative humidity, one factor that affects weather. The students constructed a homemade psychrometer and measured the relative humidity of the classroom. The upcycling project is due May 13th, which includes a one-page paper and an upcycled object.

May 1, 2019: Today, the students took the Cycles Practice Quiz, The practice quiz and answers are posted in google classroom. The students then decorated a letter for one of the cycles. The students will complete the letter tomorrow, then take the Cycles Quiz.
April 30, 2019: Today, the students participated in a review activity. They were also able to watch a short video about cycles. Tomorrow they will take a Cycles Practice Quiz. On Thursday, students will take the Cycles Quiz.
April 29, 2019: Welcome back! Today, the students completed a cycles puzzle review. Both classes will go over the correct answers tomorrow. The Water, Carbon, and Nitrogen Cycles quiz is scheduled for Thursday, May 2nd. The students will take a practice quiz on Wednesday.
April 17, 2019: Today, the students wrote a cinquain poem about one part of the nitrogen cycle and cut out their bubble art into a bacteria shape. They turned this assignment in. The Cycles Quiz (Water, Carbon, and Nitrogen) has been scheduled for Wednesday, 5/1.
April 16, 2019: Today, the students read an article about the nitrogen cycle and answered questions and filled out a diagram. The upcycling project is due May 13th. The students will take a quiz on the water cycle, nitrogen cycle, and carbon cycle on May 1, 2019.
April 15, 2019: Today, the students took notes about the Nitrogen Cycle. They also used watercolor bubble art to represent bacteria. Tomorrow the students will use their bacteria painting as part of a bacteria project. The upcycling project is due May 13th.
April 12, 2019: Today, the students completed and turned in the Carbon Cycle Article Questions. We went over the answers before the students turned them in. The Upcycling Project is due May 13th.
April 11, 2019: Today, the students combined chalk dust and vinegar to observe the release of carbon dioxide. They then traced the carbon in the chalk back to dinosaur breath. The students turned in this worksheet. The Upcycling Project is due May 13th.
April 10, 2019: Today, the students analyzed the results of their carbon footprint calculation. The students then read an article about the carbon cycle and started highlighting/answering questions about the article. They will be able to work on this assignment tomorrow. Their Upcycling Project is due May 13th.
April 9, 2019: Today, the students received information about the Upcycling Project. This project is due May 13th, 2019. Please refer to the worksheet and slideshow, which contains ideas for the project, uploaded in Google Classroom. The students do not have homework tonight.
April 8, 2019: Today, the students took notes about the Carbon Cycle, then decreased their carbon footprint by upcycling an outdated geography book into envelopes and notecards. The students do not have homework tonight.

April 4, 2019: Today, the students completed and presented their water cycle comic strip. They are very cute! The students do not have homework tonight.
April 3, 2019: Today, the students worked on their water cycle comic strip. Many students finished. Students will get 15 minutes tomorrow to work on them then they will present them to the class. The students do not have homework tonight.
April 2, 2019: Today, the students worked on their rough draft comic strip about the water cycle. The students then started working on the final draft with conversation bubbles. The students will be able to work on the assignment tomorrow. The students do not have homework tonight.
April 1, 2019: Today, the students designed a story to trace the path of a water molecule through the water cycle. The students also drew their water molecule character. Tomorrow, the students will complete a rough draft comic strip. The students do not have homework tonight.
March 29, 2019: Today, the students constructed a water cycle keychain. They matched up the colors of beads to the steps in the water cycle. Their keychain will provide them inspiration for a project they will be completing on Monday. The students do not have homework this weekend.
March 28, 2019: Today, the students took the Earth History Quiz. They also took notes about the water cycle, which is part of our next unit, Cycles. The students do not have homework tonight.
March 27, 2019: Today, both classes took the Earth History Practice Quiz. 6L watched a Bill Nye Fossil video and wrote/read a haiku about the information. 6F went over the fossil research questions. 6F's homework tonight is to complete the Earth History Color by #. They received the correct answers to the ten questions in class. The students will take the Earth History Quiz tomorrow.
March 26, 2019: Today, 6L went over the fossil question answers. Their homework tonight is the Earth History color by #. 6F got their fossils to take home and they worked on answering the fossil questions. 6F does not have homework tonight; they will complete the color by # tomorrow night. The Earth History Quiz is scheduled for Thursday, 3/28.
March 25, 2019: Today, 6L worked on the fossil research questions, identified 10 mystery fossils, and removed their fossil from clay. They should have brought their fossil home. 6F made their fossils today and will take them home tomorrow. The students' homework is Earth History and Fossils HW. The quiz is moved to Thursday, 3/28 due to the retreat last Friday.
March 22, 2019: Today, the students participated in their retreat. However, it ended early so 6F was able to complete their geologic columns. They look great! The students' homework for the weekend is Geologic History Homework (they got it 3/21/19). The Earth History quiz is scheduled for Wednesday, March 27th.
March 21, 2019: Today, 6L made a fossil using the mold and cast process. 6F constructed a geologic column for five fossils they researched the geologic time period of. The students' homework tonight is Geologic History Homework. The Earth History quiz is scheduled for Wednesday, March 27th. Since their retreat is tomorrow, I will collect their drill worksheets and homework on Monday.
March 20, 2019: Today, 6L completed the History of Earth packet. They should have a signature from me for Parts 1, 3, and 4. 6F researched to find the relative ages of five fossils and started designing a geologic column for them. The students do not have homework tonight.
March 19, 2019: Today, the students watched a video about Earth's geologic history and wrote information about different topics discussed by the video. The students do not have homework tonight.
March 18, 2019: Today, 6L cut glued down six pictures showing a progression of deformed rock layers. 6F was able to complete the History of the Earth packet and taped fossils to a giant geologic column. The students do not have homework tonight.
March 15, 2019: Today, 6L cut out and glued together layers of the 3-D geologic. column. 6F was able to cut and glue six pictures showing a progression of deformed rock layers. The students do not have homework tonight.
March 14, 2019: Today, the students used clues to put together a 3-D geologic column. The students cut out and glued a 2-D geologic column in their packet. The students' homework tonight is Rock Layer Analysis WS.
March 13, 2019: Today, the students answered fossil research questions and put together a geologic column using index fossil information. 6L will complete the questions tomorrow. 6O was able to complete and turn in the questions. The students' homework tonight is 'Relative Dating Thinking Questions' WS.
March 12, 2019: Today, the students labeled their geologic column, answered questions about the geologic column, and turned it in. The students do not have homework tonight.
March 11, 2019: Today, the students cut out and glued their geologic column onto a piece of paper. Students that were not able to glue their pieces down to the paper correctly were instructed to stay in during recess tomorrow so it will be finished before class. Tomorrow, they will label the geologic column and answer questions about it. The students do not have homework tonight.
March 8, 2019: Today, the students color-coded four rock columns. On Monday, they will cut out the pieces and glue them together to form a geologic column. If students did not finish coloring the layers, they need to do so at home. A picture is in the slideshow in Google Classroom.
March 7, 2019: Today, the students completed the relative dating notes and watched a short video about the law of superposition. The students do not have homework tonight.
March 6, 2019: Today, the students solved a sedimentary rock puzzle and started relative dating research questions. Today is the last day to turn in late work. Students can email me late work as well by taking a picture of it and attaching it to an email.
March 5, 2019: Today, the students took the Plate Tectonics/Faults Quiz. They watched a video and completed a short activity about our next unit called Relative Dating/History of Earth. Please check Powerschool to check for any missing work. Google Classroom is a great resource to find replacement worksheets and slideshows. March 4, 2019: Today, the students built and tested their structures on the earthquake shake table. We talked about improvements that could be made to their structure. The students will take the Plate Tectonics/Faults/Earthquake/Tsunami quiz tomorrow. This quiz is the last grade of Trimester 2. Please check Powerschool to check for any missing work. March 1, 2019: Today, the students watched a video about Earthquakes. We will go over the answer to the video worksheet on Monday. The students will take the Plate Tectonics/Faults/Earthquakes quiz on Monday, unless it's a full day. If it is a full day on Monday (no delay), the students will test their earthquake structures, since they were not able to on Friday. If there is a delay on Monday (due to snow), the students will take the quiz, and complete the challenge on Tuesday.
February 28, 2019: Today, the students took the Plate Boundary and Faults Practice Quiz. The practice quiz and answers will be posted to google classroom. The students then built and tested a practice earthquake structure. The Plate Boundaries/Faults/Earthquake/Volcano Quiz is scheduled for Monday, March 4th.
February 27, 2019: Today, the students constructed a cube and pyramid out of spaghetti and marshmallows. They applied stress to the structure and we discussed observations of how strong each shape was. This will help them to build their building prototype tomorrow. The Plate Boundaries/Faults/Earthquake/Volcano Quiz is scheduled for Monday, March 4th.
February 26, 2019: Today, the students completed the analysis questions for the Locating an Epicenter of an Earthquake activity from yesterday. They then completed a conclusion activity where they found an epicenter using data from three locations. They turned this activity in. A plate boundary, faults, earthquake, and tsunami quiz is scheduled for Monday, March 4th.
February 25, 2019: Today, the students found the epicenter of an earthquake using a time/distance graph and a compass. They did a good job! We will complete this assignment tomorrow so they should bring their compass back tomorrow. Their homework tonight is Types of Faults HW worksheet.
February 22, 2019: Today, the students wrote haiku poems about tsunamis. They read them to the class and then taped them to a giant wave. They did a really good job! The students' homework for the weekend is the Plate Tectonics Review HW. They also need to bring a compass (to draw a circle) to class on Monday for an activity.
February 21, 2019: Today, the students took notes about tsunamis in preparation for a tsunami project they will work on tomorrow. The students do not have homework tonight.
February 19, 2019: Today, the students took notes about earthquakes and the three types of seismic waves associated with them. The students used a slinky to model the three types of waves. The students' homework is to review their notes taken in class today.
February 15, 2019: Today, 6L completed the fault model questions and turned them in with the fault model worksheet. 6F was able to almost complete an extension activity and volcanoes. They will complete this activity on Tuesday. The students do not have homework this weekend.
February 14, 2019: Today, the students used a paper model to represent and answer questions about the three types of faults. 6L will be given time tomorrow to complete the assignment. 6F completed the assignment. Both classes' homework is to color in the color-by-# worksheet.
February 13, 2019: Today, the students used a marshmallow to represent different types of stress that act on rocks. They took notes from a slideshow and watched a short video about folding and faulting. The students' homework is to answer the Plate Tectonics Color by # questions.
February 8, 2019: Today, the completed plotting the earthquakes and volcanoes on their map. The students answered the four questions on the reverse side of the map worksheet and turned it in for a grade. For homework, students need to finish cutting out the colored pictures from yesterday, match them up to the crust 'landscape', and glue them down. This assignment is due Monday. A picture of the pieces and the colors they need to be is in the slideshow, which is on my google classroom.
February 7, 2019: Today, the students pasted together a crust 'landscape' and colored pictures that will eventually be glued on to the landscape. The students had a substitute teacher today.
February 6, 2019: Today, the students listened to Johnny Cash's The Ring of Fire, then plotted earthquakes and volcanoes on a map. The students will finish this assignment on Friday. The students do not have homework tonight.
February 5, 2019: Today, the students observed a teabag demonstration and wrote a conclusion statement for the convection current activity. They turned in their Convection Currents Notes looseleaf and the Plate Boundaries WS from yesterday. Information on how to complete the conclusion statement is in the Plate Tectonics slideshow on google classroom. The students do not have homework tonight.
February 4, 2019: Today, the students took notes about the three types of plate boundaries and modeled them using graham crackers. The students set up a chart on looseleaf that they will complete tomorrow about convection currents. The students do not have homework tonight.
January 31, 2019: I did not see the 6th graders today due to the shortened schedule. The students do not have homework tonight.
January 29, 2019: Today, 6L completed the Pangaea rotations and 6F completed the Pangaea party assignment. Both classes turned in the assignments for a grade. The students do not have homework tonight.
January 28, 2019: Today, both classes took the Layers of Earth/Pangaea Quiz. 6L completed most of the Pangaea rotations. They will finish them tomorrow. 6F started a 'Pangaea Party' assignment which they will complete tomorrow as well. The students do not have homework tonight.
January 25, 2019: Today, 6L finished their Pangaea Posters and completed one rotation set of questions. They will finish on Monday. 6F completed the rotation stations and watched a short video about plate tectonics. Both classes took the Layers of the Earth/Pangaea practice quiz. A blank copy and answers are posted in google classroom. The quiz is scheduled for Monday.
January 24, 2019: Today, 6L worked on their Pangaea Posters. They will get about 10 minutes tomorrow to finish them. 6F finished their posters and started the poster rotation activity. Those students that were not able to finish the rotation will complete them tomorrow. The Layers of the Earth/Pangaea quiz is scheduled for Monday, 1/28.
January 23, 2019: Today, the students worked on their Pangaea Poster Projects. Both classes will get time tomorrow to finish the posters, then start a poster rotation activity. I rescheduled the Layers of the Earth/Pangaea quiz to Monday, 1/28 to give students more time to prepare.
January 22, 2019: Today, the students took notes about Pangaea. They also worked on 'putting Pangaea back together again'. A Layers of of the Earth and Pangaea quiz has been scheduled for Friday, 1/25. The students will take a practice quiz on Thursday.
January 17, 2019: Today, both classes worked on the Pangaea haikus as part of the Pangaea project they will be working on the next couple days. 6F was able to start coloring evidence on continent pieces. The students do not have homework this weekend.
January 16, 2019: Today, both classes went over the correct answers to the Layers of the Earth wrap-it-up notes/questions and colored/glued on mountains or ocean to their earth layers pizza pie activity. 6F was able to start their Pangaea haikus. The students do not have homework tonight.
January 15, 2019: Today, 6L layered up the five layers of liquids in a graduated cylinder to represent the five layers of Earth. If the students finished coloring in their graduated cylinder they turned in their worksheet. If students did not finish the graduated cylinder, I'm asking the students to finish at home and turn in the worksheet when completed. 6F was able to participate in a calculation contest and took wrap-it-up notes about the layers of Earth. The students do not have homework tonight.
January 11, 2019: Today, 6L calculated the density of five liquids and how much of each would equal a scaled-down Earth inside a graduated cylinder. They will complete the activity on Monday. 6F was able to layer up five layers in a graduated cylinder to model the five layers of Earth. The students do not have homework this weekend.
January 10, 2019: Today, the students completed their Layers of the Earth Pizza Slice activity. We glued them together to see how close everyone's calculations were. 6F was able to start the Density/Earth Layers activity. The students will take the science midterm tomorrow. The students will receive a periodic table to use on the test. The students are allowed to use their calculators.
January 9, 2019: Today, the students completed phase change and atomic properties reviews. The answers to these are posted in the slideshow in Google Classroom. The science midterm is Friday. The students are allowed to use their periodic tables and a calculator on the test.
January 8, 2019: Today, the students completed their puzzle piece review activity. Pictures will be posted in google classroom so they can use the puzzle pieces to aid in their studying. The students' homework is to continue studying for the science midterm exam, which is scheduled for Friday.
January 7, 2019: Today, the students worked on a 'Graffiti Wall' review activity. They will complete this activity tomorrow. The students' homework is to review for the science midterm Friday. The review guide and answers are posted in my Google Classroom for students to use to prepare for the midterm.
January 4, 2019: Today, the calculated, to scale, five layers of Earth and started drawing the layers onto a pizza slice. They will complete this activity next week. They did a really good job! The students' homework is to check their midterm review guide answers with the answer key. The answer key will be uploaded to my Google Classroom by 8PM tomorrow (Saturday). They should bring any questions they have to class on Monday.
January 3, 2019: Today, the students calculated, to scale, the three layers of the Earth and measured/drew them on an index card. The students turned their index card in. The students' homework is to write down the eight questions and answers from the cootie-catcher and to continue completing the midterm review guide. I will upload the answers this weekend. I am not collecting the review guide. I have encouraged students to work through the review guide on their own before accessing the answers to increase content retention for when they take the midterm. The Science Midterm is scheduled for Friday, January 11th.
January 2, 2019: Today, the students took notes about the layers of the earth from a video and a fortune-teller. The students may not have finished the fortune tell questions. It will be their homework tomorrow night if they didn't finish today. Students need to bring four-function calculators tomorrow. The students' homework tonight is to download and complete the midterm review guide, if they haven't done so already. The midterm review guide can be found in my Google Classroom. I will upload the answers this weekend. I encourage students to work through the questions by reviewing slideshows, homework assignments, quizzes, etc. The students should bring any questions they have Monday, 1/7, so we can go over them.
December 20, 2018: Today, the students took the Weathering Quiz. They were also able to watch a video about out next topic, Layers of the Earth. The science midterm review guide will be posted in my google classroom by tomorrow night. The students can download the review guide and start answering the questions over Christmas Break. The students will get answers to the review guide in January.
December 19, 2018: Today, the students took the Weathering Practice Quiz. The students also finished the weathering graph they started a couple of days ago. The students' homework is to study for the Weathering Quiz tomorrow. The practice quiz and answers are posted in my google classroom.
December 18, 2018: Today, the students completed a water abrasion experiment where they stirred rocks in water. Three samples of water for each five minutes of stirring were collected to determine when the most weathering took place. The Weathering Quiz is scheduled for Thursday. The students will take a practice quiz tomorrow. The students' homework is to review their notes about different types of weathering.
December 17, 2018: Today, the students completed a weathering rotation activity to identify specific types of weathering. The students also started a graphing activity. Their homework is to start organizing their papers by topic in preparation for the midterm exam in January. The Weathering Quiz is scheduled for Thursday, 12/20/18.
December 14, 2018: Today, the students wrote a conclusion statement based on the acid rain experiment, a stirring sugar cube activity, and watching a short video. They identified types of weathering and described their observations. They turned this assignment in for a grade. The students' homework this weekend is Midterm Review #1.
December 13, 2018: Today, the students collected data for an acid rain experiment. The students will write a conclusion statement for the experiment tomorrow. The students do not have homework tonight.
December 12, 2018: Today, the students observed a demonstration where the concentration of vinegar was changed. They wrote a paragraph about the demonstration and turned it in. This prepared the students for the experiment they are doing tomorrow about acid rain. The students also worked on finishing their weathering explanation at IHM project. Most groups from 6F completed the assignment and shared it with me. Most groups from 6L will need more time to complete the activity. The students do not have homework tonight.
December 11, 2018: Today, the students chose one picture from ones they took yesterday and used it as the focus of a weathering assignment. Some students completed this assignment today. The students will get about 10 minutes tomorrow to complete this assignment. The students' homework tonight is 'Weathering Thinking Questions' worksheet.
December 10, 2018: Today, the students took pictures of weathering around the IHM school campus. They will use these pictures as part of an assignment they will complete tomorrow. The students do not have homework tonight.
December 6, 2018: Today, 6L wrote kind letters to faculty and staff at IHM and then hand-delivered the rocks and notes to them. They did a really good job! 6F watched a weathering video and colored a cavern scene. They turned this worksheet in. Neither class has homework for the weekend.
December 5, 2018: Today, 6L painted rocks as part of the Kindness Rocks Project. 6F wrote kind letters to faculty and staff at IHM and hand-delivered them. The notes were well written and meaningful. 6F was also able to cut out pictures of different types of weathering and match them up to the descriptions on their weathering research paper. Tomorrow, 6L will write notes and hand-deliver their rocks.
December 4, 2018: Today, 6L completed the weathering research and watched a video about weathering. They completed a crossword and coloring picture based on the video and turned it in (Substitute Teacher activity). 6F painted rocks as a celebration to ending the rock unit. The students will write nice notes to teachers and staff at the school and distribute the notes and rocks to them when the rocks dry. 6L will paint rocks tomorrow. Neither class has homework tonight.
December 3, 2018: Today, the students took the Rock Quiz. They then took types of weathering notes. The students do not have homework tonight.
November 30, 2018: Today, the students participated in a day of service. The students will take a Rock Quiz on Monday, 12/3. There are resources on my Google Classroom to help prepare students for the quiz. The students took a practice quiz yesterday.
November 29, 2018: Today, the students took the Rock Practice Quiz. They will take the Rock Quiz on Monday, December 3rd. Many of the students have emailed me their Rock Poem or they turned in a hard copy today. The rock poem is due today. If students did not turn in a hard copy today they need to email me their poem tonight.
November 28, 2018: Today, the students wrote a '3,2,1' exit ticket for the Bill Nye 'Rocks and Soil' video 3 things they already knew, 2 things they learned, and 1 question they still have about rocks. They turned this paper in for a grade. The students then answered 9 questions about a rock cycle analogy. November 27, 2018: Today, the students participated in a Rock Cycle Roulette Game. They answered Thinking Questions about the game and they turned them in for a grade. The Rock Poems are due Thursday, 11/29.
November 26, 2018: Today, the students received the correct answers for their rock research packet. These answers can be found in Google Classroom. The students were also given directions for their Rock Poem, which is due this Thursday. The requirements are in the slideshow that is posted in Google Classroom. The students were instructed to write down the requirements in their planner. The poem needs to be typed, four stanzas, four lines per stanza (16 lines total) with a picture. The poem needs to include inferences to how/where the rock formed and observations about the rock.
November 20, 2018: Today, the students worked on the Rock Research questions. Absent students can access pages from the textbooks from the Google Classroom site. The students do not have homework tonight.
November 19, 2018: Today, the students completed and presented their geologic landform diamante poems. They did a really good job! They were also just barely able to start research about rocks. They will continue the research tomorrow. The students do not have homework tonight.
November 16, 2018: Today, the students were able to work a little bit on their geologic landform diamante poem. They will finish the poems on Monday. The students do not have homework this weekend.
November 14, 2018: Today, the students learned about weathering, erosion, and deposition. They were assigned a group and a famous geologic landform to write a diamante poem about. They will complete the poem tomorrow. The students do not have homework tonight.
November 13, 2018: The sixth graders did not have science today due to an assembly. The students do not have homework tonight.
November 12, 2018: Today was the first day of the rocks/weathering/erosion unit! The students picked a rock and wrote down observations for it. The students do not have homework tonight.
November 9, 2018: Today, the students took their Physical and Chemical Properties/Changes Quiz. They then finished their paper origami crane and watched a sulfuric acid/sugar demonstration video. Lastly, they wrote a paragraph summarizing physical and chemical changes. Students who were absent can watch this video and find the questions in the slideshow on Google Classroom. The students do not have homework this weekend.
November 8, 2018: Today, the students answered the questions on the back of the Physical/Chemical Changes rotation worksheet. We went over the answers. The students also took a practice quiz. The quiz and answers are posted on the Google Classroom. The students were also able to start an origami paper crane which we will finish tomorrow. The students need to study for the Physical and Chemical Properties/Changes quiz tomorrow.
November 7, 2018: Today, the students learned about the four types of reactions and identified equations as one of these four types. The slideshow with pictures can be found on my Google Classroom. The students do not have homework tonight.

November 5, 2018: Today, the students completed a practice density worksheet. They received the correct answers and kept this worksheet in their binder. The students started Chemical and Physical Changes Research. They will get the correct answers on Wednesday. November 2, 2018: Today, the students calculated the density of five liquids. They then layered them in order in a test tube. They answered questions about the activity and turned the worksheet in. The students do not have homework this weekend.
November 1, 2018: Today, the students learned how to calculate density of liquids and solids. They completed a density column worksheet and turned it in. Their homework is 'Physical and Chemical Properties WS'.
October 31, 2018: Today, the students completed their Physical and Chemical Properties notes worksheet. They identified each property as physical or chemical and they cut and pasted pictures to represent each one. They do not have homework tonight. Happy Halloween!
October 30, 2018: Today, the students finished watching the video and we answered the video questions together. The students gathered descriptions of physical and chemical properties of matter. I assigned 'Physical and Chemical Properties WS', however, neither class was able to complete the notes sheet. I will collect this homework assignment on Friday. I was not able to tell 6L about the homework. 6F knows the homework is due on Friday.
October 29, 2018: Today, the students finished their hotsicles essay and turned it in. They were also able to watch most of phase change video. They will watch the rest of the video tomorrow. Their homework is 'Changes of States of Matter' worksheet, front and back.
October 26, 2018: Today, the students gathered information from a hotsicles activity. They were able to start the conclusion statement for the activity. The students will finish the conclusion statement Monday during class. They do not have homework this weekend.
October 25, 2018: Today the students turned in their homework from last night. They also completed Change of State Picture Rotations. The students do not have homework tonight.
October 24, 2018: Today, the students completed the 'Change of State' research questions. The students were also able to start their homework. 'Phases of Matter' color by # is their homework assignment for tonight.
October 23, 2018: Today, the students worked on all four of the gas rotation activities. The graphing was challenging! We will be going over the graphing activities tomorrow as a class. The students do not have any homework tonight.

October 15, 2018: Today, the students measured the volume of regular solids. Students in 6F turned in their homework. Students in 6L will turn their homework in (from the weekend) tomorrow. The students' homework tonight is 'Measuring Volume WS'. I rescheduled their States of Matter Quiz to Thursday, 10/18 due to the High School Fair taking place at school tomorrow night.
October 12, 2018: Today, the students finished their notes about measuring volume (These Notes Matter--is the title) and they measured the volume of irregularly shaped solids. These students should check their e-mail to accept the invite. The students were given the actual measurements for the liquid volume activity from last Thursday and Friday. September 17, 2018: Today the students wrote notes about eight molecules that scientists think were the first to appear on Earth. They were able to model one of the molecules with marshmallows. They will make the remaining models tomorrow. Their Bohr Person Project is due Monday, 9/24.
September 7, 2018: Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! Today in class your child was given a newsletter, an opening slideshow, and they worked on a first day activity. Their homework for the weekend is to share the newsletter with their parents and complete the first day activity, if needed. Most students were able to complete the activity in class.
September 10, 2018: Today the students learned how to determine the number of protons, neutrons, and electrons in atoms. They also worked on a rotation activity. They do not have homework tonight.
September 11, 2018: Today, the students completed the Atomic Structure Review rotations. They turned this worksheet in at the end of class. They have no homework tonight.
September 12, 2018: Today, the students learned how to construct Bohr models of atoms. We went through four examples together. Their homework tonight is to complete four more. They set up a chart on looseleaf, in class, for these four atoms. The four atoms are oxygen, boron, scandium, and iron. This homework is due Thursday, 9/13/18.
September 13, 2018: Today, the students combined two or more atoms to form a 'word'. Most students completed this assignment. Students not completed will get about 10 minutes tomorrow to finish. Their homework for tonight is 'Atoms Review Homework' worksheet.
September 14, 2018: Today, the students were given directions on how to complete the 'Bohr Person Project' This project is due on Monday, September 24th. The students received a worksheet that details the project. The students wrote down properties of an element and their assignment is to use these properties as inspiration in constructing their bohr person. All students received an index card on which to complete the project. I collected their homework and their drill worksheet today.
